Back-to-work preparation.

Attention working mamas:
When you are about to begrudgingly head back to the work place, is it just me, or do you go through another "nesting" phase??
Or, is it just a way to ward off dwelling on the looming date of leaving baby?

:( :( :(
(insert hysterical sobbing here)
:( :( :(

Regardless, while my husband road-tripped to Nebraska the other weekend,  I stayed behind with my mom and cranked out some SERIOUS nesting-like tasks.

I present to you my list of domestic accomplishments...

  • 1 trip to my least favorite place in the whole world ~ Walmart ~ to stock up on toiletries, diapers, cleaning supplies, storage containers, etc.
  • Pantry = stocked and organized
  • Swept, steam-cleaned floors in the kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom
  • Dusted all nooks and crannies
  • 5 loads of laundry (including linens) done.
  • Swapped summer clothes out for fall/winter ones.
  • Packed away too-small baby gear (sad!)
  • Deep-cleaned/flipped master bed
  • Made a huge bin of homemade baby purees to get us through 3 months
    • Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, apples, pears, peaches, pomegranate apples, mangoes, apple-banana-pear
  • Made an ass-ton of freezer meals:
    • 4 pans of cheesy chicken enchiladas
    • 2 baked ziti's
    • 2 cheesy chicken pennes with sun-dried tomatoes & mushrooms
    • 2 creamy chicken and vegetable casseroles
    • 2 chicken teriyaki's
    • 2 savory vegetable beef soups
    • 1 quesadilla casserole
    • 1 white chicken chili
    • 1 bag of spicy shredded chicken (for chicken tacos/chicken taco salad)
    • 1 ginormous vat of homemade roasted red salsa (only one quart bag actually made it to freezer because it's more addictive than crack)
    • 1 package of frozen sun fish (caught from our trip up North)
    • 1 bag of triple chip oatmeal cookies
    • 1 bag of snickerdoodle cookies

This list may sound crazy/daunting/ridiculous, but seriously...
who wants to make a pit stop for Tampons, toilet paper, etc. on the way home from work and/or make a healthy, home-cooked meal from scratch
when all you wanna do is love on your baby the second you get home?!
Not me!

Bonus:  We are also ready for the Apocalypse.

Thank goodness for the two best sous chefs around...

How do you  make sure you're doing both your  jobs 110%?
Prepare healthy meals ahead?  Peapod delivery?
Family excursions to the store and teamwork in the kitchen?
Hire a cleaning lady?
Wake up everyday at 3am?

Please share so I can be a   Super Mom   like you!

(Preferably without running myself ragged on the weekends!)
