Weekend recap

A trip home (read: my first long solo car trip with a toddler) - success!
And some firsts...
first pontoon ride, first true beach play, first dip in the Mississippi!

Good times.
(And some much needed R&R for mama!)
Now back to Mil to smother Dada with love.

Cheers to a quick work week!

Weekend recap

I heart the weekends,
I really do.
It is so unfair that they are only 2 short days, no?

We sure crammed in a lot of goodness this weekend,

A little hoops after swim lessons,
a lakefront picnic in Bay View Park,
LOTS of good home cookin'...
strawberry almond waffles,
steak kabobs,
proscuitto and arugula pizza,
garlic chicken and sauteed mushrooms, zucchini & chard,
and fresh peach buckle!

(complete with Jake's sammies!)

(Thanks to a co-worker for steering me to Martha's easy recipe.
Perfection with a cup of coffee in the a.m.)

All this goodness, however, was topped off with a nasty case of conjunctivitis.
(Booooo.  Thanks again day care!)
At least it allowed for some more much-needed deep cleaning
and R&R on Sunday!

(Aside:  they are becoming eerily more and more similar, no?)  ;)

Cheers to this week going by super fast!
(Not to mention I'd much rather still be at home watching the Royal Baby be born.)

The Friday Five

With a wedding anniversary just gone by,
and a 10-year dating anniversary yet to come,
I must admit that I am still feeling lovey dovey every time I think of the huzz.
So why not embrace that sentiment with a little Jack?

navy + polka dots
My go-to as of late!

Outpost Natural Foods' "Little Oaties"
Mother f'n crack.
I equate it to an oatmeal cookie whoopie pie.
(aka a whole lotta cream cheese deliciousness happening in there!)
I've never had these mocha ones, because the "original" are just too darn good.

Laundry in a giant, clean walk-in closet?!
So efficient and organized.

Can it be done?
If so, please tell me your secrets.

Peach season!  This salad looks amaze-balls.

Successful people who didn't "make it" until age 30+.

Pretty summer scarf.

Neat picnic bag that doubles as a place to sit.  Want!

Your summer reading list defined.

(Am I the only one to think this about the whole ombre trend?)

Cutest maternity threads around

ASOS Maternity.
Check it out preggo's!

Seriously the best selection at the best price,
if you ask little old me.

Oh, and did I mention it's free shipping both ways?

Fiddle me this

I have a thing for fiddle leaf fig trees.
Inside the home, that is.

Case in point:
(I will also take the cowhide, chandelier, all of it.)

I mean, check out the rest of these beauties...

Yep, I officially need over-sized house plants in my new home.

Weekend recap

I know, I know.

A day late and a "Friday Five" short.
You'll have to excuse an exhausted, puking mama.
But at least the weekend was good!

Friday night anniversary dinner at Centro Cafe!
Romantic and cute, as always.

(We try to eat at little Italian spots each anniversary
to commemorate our glorious Italian honeymoon.  Sigh.)

Saturday swim lessons,
followed by Bastille Days in Cathedral Square!
Beignets + decaf Chicory coffee,
cajun gyros + frites,
live music + dog parades =
family fun in the sun!

Topped off with a lazy Sunday in the AC,
completed with coffee, blueberry pancakes, long naps,
and snuggly movies.

So lovely.  Is it Friday yet?

Back with more goods tomorrow (fingers crossed!).

Hence, the only thoughts I can muster today...

"How will this bite benefit my baby?"

(Who cares.  It has a lot of berries and tastes good, okay?!)

My child is hilarious.

If other parents are doing shit like this,
there is hope for my offspring.
(But seriously, some of these were actually heart-warming and/or good ideas!)

If I don't go to sleep now, I may murder someone tomorrow.
Must. Get. Rest.

Summer To-Do List

While we can cross off gardening and swim lessons,
here's what's still on my immediate Summer To-Do List:

Berry picking
Picnic and day at the beach
Pontoon ride on my parent's boat
Jazz in the Park
Farmers' markets
Sprinklers & backyard pools

What's on your "must-do" list this summer?

Short post today, as I'm slow to get back to the grind
after a packed weekend!
(And one long  Monday at work and sleepless night due to a fussy toddler.  Woof.)

The weekend included celebrating the marriage of two lovely people...

College friends = fun times (even if you're stone cold sober like me).
Hope you have a great week!
